speakers, which function to emit a narrow beam of sound towards a targeted area and just steps
away no sound can be heard. In order to create these unique speakers, the DS100 team of engineers
utilize innovative adaptive sound control technologies, namely parametric array, a nonlinear transd
uction mechanism. A parametric array does not generate sound directly – it uses ultrasonic waves
to reproduce sound. Ultrasonic waves modulated with an audio signal are generated by ultrasonic
transducers. As they pass through air or encounter objects, they de-modulate and sound can be
heard.Diffffraction of ultrasonic waves is much lower than sound waves because of their higher freq
uency. So, the ultrasonic waves, and the sound coming from the directional speaker, spread very
little and are confifined to a narrow beam that can reach tens of meters.

DS100 produces a directional beam of sound, sort of like a spot light for sound. This meansif you are standing in front of it when it's on,you will hear the sound it produces. If you stepto the side, you won't hear anything produced
by DS100. In comparison, the speakers we areused to tend to emit sound radially, filling anentire space around it with sound.A focused speaker is a device that generatesmid to high-frequency audio in a narrow beamof soundwaves. Unlike low-frequency soundwaves, mid to high-frequency sound can be focused almost like a laser beam. These waves travel at long distances but are loudest at the center. They are only heard by those standing in front of the speaker. Directional or focused speakers are very different from traditional speakers in the way they distribute sound.
While the role of conventional speakers is to transmit the audio as widely and as loudly as possible, directional speakers aim to focus the audio into a concentrated area allowing for much better sound clarity, usually at lower
decibel levels. Directional speakers are commonly used to address specific areas within a crowd rather than disturbing a wider audience.
